Protocol for exposing repository metadata (Data Provider) for the GLAM digital collection.

Overview

OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) is a standard for exposing metadata over HTTP in XML, enabling harvesters to aggregate and build cross-repository search.

  • Data Provider: your GLAM system exposing this BaseURL.
  • Service Provider: harvesters such as OAIster, BASE, OpenAIRE.
  • Format: supports oai_dc (Dublin Core) and the custom oai_glam schema.

Parameters
  • metadataPrefix – use oai_dc or oai_glam.
  • from, until – date filters (YYYY-MM-DD or YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ssZ).
  • set – filter by set, e.g., country:philippines, type:painting.
  • resumptionToken – pagination token; when provided, other params are usually ignored.

Troubleshooting
  • “Extra content at the end...” – extra output mixed into XML; disable display_errors, clear buffers, echo one XML and exit;
  • 500 – check PHP extensions (xml, xmlwriter), file permissions, and require_once paths.
  • Empty ListRecords – you may be on a later page (token too large) or filters returned zero results.
